Oleg Soulimenko & Andrei Andrianov

Old Chaos, New Order

For their new joint work, Oleg Soulimenko and Andrei Andrianov have secured the support of internationally renowned artists. Together with them, they embark on a search for the future of their art and the legacy they will eventually leave behind. Their central question is: how can a legacy be formed from an art that can only really be written into the history of western performance and art history since the fall of the Iron Curtain?
No less than Markus Schinwald, Robert Steijn (united sorry), Janez Janša, Meg Stuart, and Steve Paxton will assist them with this question. The five artists were asked to develop short scenes or directions for the beginning, middle, or end of a contemporary performance piece. From these completely differently arranged performance fragments – perhaps all of them wanted to write an ending – the two Russian performers have developed their piece. On this evening, performance art from all points on the compass joins via tradition and new beginning to form a potential new order in a seemingly boundless globalised world.
