SAVE A HORSE RIDE A COWBOY spielt mit den verschiedenen Schichten von Drag beim Westernreiten. An Kaler dekonstruiert den „Cowboy“ als archetypischen weiß-männlich-heterosexuellen Helden im Mainstream und untersucht Bilder des Begehrens und der Landschaft. Dabei stellt die Performance die Frage des Begehrens neu und erforscht queere Zwischenräume. Es geht auch um die Körpererfahrung beim Reiten, die Organisation des Körpers in Bewegung: Gewichtsverlagerung und die Funktion des Sattels als Prothese und Bindeglied.

SAVE A HORSE RIDE A COWBOY toys with the different layers of “drag” in western horse riding. An Kaler deconstructs the cowboy as the archetypal white-male-heterosexual hero in the mainstream and examines different images of longing and landscape. The performance reformulates the question of longing and explores the queer spaces in between. It is also concerned with the physical riding experience and the set-up of the body in motion: the shifting of weight and role of the saddle as a prothesis and connecting element.
