What initially started as a chamber-music side project of the Canadian rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor has in the meantime turned into a mammoth project. Over the past ten years Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra has produced an amazing seven albums and developed an exceptional, increasingly opulent sound.
With their album released in January, Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light On Everything, the band is venturing a reboot. The five-member formation weaves a refined web of violins, bass and percussion and wonderfully crashing sounds around founder Efrim Menuck’s brilliant guitar playing. Hard core, blues, garage and dark metal fuse into a singular style that is much too multi-layered to give it the simple label of “post rock”. www.tra-la-la-band.com
