Good Night, Vienna! focuses on Vienna’s mystical and mysterious side and dares to take a trip into hidden regions of the city that according to surveys has the “highest quality of life in the world”. Together with Viennese people, the Russian performance artist Oleg Soulimenko goes on a tour of sites of seemingly uncanny events. Eyewitnesses to the strange, magical and mystical allow the audience to participate in their experiences and their alternative view of Vienna. On the journey into the innermost areas of the apparently familiar city, what usually remains hidden comes to the surface. Good Night, Vienna! offers space for events of “another kind” and shows that our approach to what is not rationally explicable says a great deal about our modern knowledge society. Not least the mystics and magical secret societies that have always enthused about Vienna’s closeness to “another” world prove that Vienna is the ideal place for such an enterprise.
