Kate McIntosh

All Ears

Performance in englischer Sprache
Österreichische Erstaufführung

For her new piece, All Ears, Kate McIntosh drew her inspiration from her own fascination with construction and destruction, sense and nonsense. McIntosh lures the audience into an intriguing game with her unique sense of humour, guiding them on the thin red line between experiment and entertainment and tackling questions about human behaviour between the poles of individuality and group affiliation.
In All Ears, Kate McIntosh turns the brut stage into an improvised adhoc lab and hosts the evening as a combination of curious scientist, mischievous questioner and eclectic storyteller. She initiates unusual acoustic inquiries and sound bricolages on stage, while audio landscapes ensue in various experimental settings that, permanently recombined and relooped, constitute the evening’s sound track.
In her pieces, New Zealand performer and dancer Kate McIntosh works on the lines between theatre, performance, show and stand-up comedy. She has been a regular guest at brut, most recently with her piece Worktable in 2012. www.spinspin.be

NO LIGHTS NO LYCRA with Kate McIntosh (Brussels)

“This is a pure and spiritual experience, releasing that urge to shake and doing it without dealing with the social nuances of dancing in public.” Greenpointers Blog, Brooklyn NY

Dance like no one is watching! Kate McIntosh hosts NO LIGHTS NO LYCRA. All lights are turned off, and the entirely vacated space at brut is opened for a dance event where everybody can dance the strains of the week away during one hour on Sunday afternoon, unbothered and unwatched. No dress codes, no show dancing, no drugs. The NO LIGHTS NO LYCRA movement was established in Melbourne in 2009 and has spread rapidly since. www.nolightsnolycra.com
Admission free!
