Higher, faster, stronger! KEEP US GOING is a dance performance focusing on endurance as a physical accomplishment. The topics of achievement, competition and perseverance are approached from different perspectives, and these approaches can re-emerge afresh every night only to be drawn into question. Within the setting of a sports event, host Anat Stainberg invites the audience to literally keep the performance of artists Deborah Hazler and Sarah Holcman going. The presentation will last only so long as the spectators take turns in engaging physically on treadmills motivated by DJ Malika Fankha’s live music. In this manner, KEEP US GOING addresses for one the physical endurance needed in contemporary dance and also endurance as a competitive achievement in modern society. Deborah Hazler creates a performance event that could not exist without the audience – be it as spectators, collaborators or participants, for endurance does not only emerge from one’s own self, but primarily through motivation and support by others. So don’t forget your sneakers or runners!
Deborah Hazler is a dancer and choreographer. As a performer, she has worked with colleagues such as Oleg Soulimenko, Anne Juren and Sarah Vanhee, but she also devises her own pieces. Hazler is the co-founder of the performance series RAW MATTERS, aiming at supporting performance artists by presenting their works on stage.
