Gob Squad’s Kitchen (You’ve Never Had It So Good)
Andy Warhols Filme, in denen „Superstars“ ganz normale Dinge tun, sind die Inspiration für Gob Squads interaktives Live-Film-Event, eine Zeitreise durch Video, Performance, Tanz und Soziokultur in die New Yorker Kunst- und Undergroundszene der 60er-Jahre. Gob Squad nehmen Warhols Filme (Empire, Sleep, Eat, Kiss, etc.) zum Ausgangspunkt und versuchen sie jeden Abend aufs Neue zu rekonstruieren – in dem Glauben, die Essenz und den Geist dieser Werke nur damit wirklich erfassen zu können. Gob Squad’s Kitchen ist eine Reise in die Vergangenheit und wieder zurück in die Zukunft. Andy Warhol’s films, in which “superstars” do ordinary things, were the source of inspiration for Gob Squad’s interactive live-film-event; a journey through time back to the New York art and underground scene of the 1960s by means of video, dance, performance and socio-culture. Gob Squad take Warhol’s films as a point of departure and try to reconstruct them from scratch every night – believing that this is the only way to truly capture the essence and spirit of these works. Gob Squad’s Kitchen is a journey into the past and back to the future. A search for the authentic, the here and now, a search for the original as opposed to its reproduction.
