Die Hexe in Hänsel und Gretel wird bei lebendigem Leib verbrannt, Schneewittchen wird, nachdem das Erdrosseln nicht geklappt hat, vergiftet, und der Wolf frisst die Oma und dann das Rotkäppchen, die ihm schließlich aus dem Leib geschnitten werden. Dieses Grimm’sche „Best of Böse“ in Sachen gewalttätige Märchen kann Katarzyna Kozyra mit ihrem Märchenfilm Summertale auf jeden Fall noch toppen. Die drei schillernden Gestalten Maestro, Gloria Viagra und Katarzyna Kozyra als Alice im Wunderland-Verschnitt schießen buchstäblich wie Pilze oder besser gesagt als Pilze aus dem Boden einer Märchenlandschaft, in der eine Gruppe von Zwerginnen in bunten Schürzchen ein beschauliches Leben führt. Anfängliche Neugier und Sympathie gegenüber den Fremden sind schnell verflogen, und hinter der Fassade der Gastfreundschaft zeigt sich die böse Fratze des Fremdenhasses. Schlagartig wandelt sich das idyllische Märchen zur Splatter-Horror-Tragödie, und das Unheil nimmt seinen Lauf …

The bad witch in Hansel and Gretel is burned alive, Snow White is poisoned because the strangling just wouldn’t do it, and the wolf eats the grandma and, afterwards, Little Red Riding Hood, who is eventually cut out of his belly. Katarzyna Kozyra easily tops even this “Best of Evil” of Brothers Grimm with her fairytale film Summertale. The three shimmering figures Maestro, Gloria Viagra and Katarzyna Kozyra as an Alice in Wonderland-wannabe literally spring up like mushrooms, or rather as mushrooms, in a fairytale landscape where a group of female dwarfs lead a laid-back life. The initial curiosity and sympathy for the outsiders is only short-lived and behind the facade of hospitality lurks the evil face of xenophobia. All of a sudden, the idyllic fairytale turns into a splatter-horror tragedy and the disaster takes its course.
