Polyamory Sound Festival 2011
Wien/London/Paris
The Polyamory Sound Festival for experimental and genre-crossing music is conquering European metropolitan areas for the second time. Developed in 2010 by Lukas Kranzelbinder, the festival’s concept is to work simultaneously with several musicians from various scenes over a certain period of time. Completely in this polymorphous sense, this musical polyamory between artists from various cities creates a basis for lively, ongoing exchange – in a form and intensity which is otherwise only seldom possible. After the smashing success of the German language focus in 2010 in Berlin, Vienna and Cologne, this year the motto is once again: Polyamory Festival goes international – Vienna/London/Paris. From 20 to 29 October 2011 in these three metropolitan centres the finest music is being presented across three days in each location, providing an overview of the cities’ local scenes and placing an emphasis on “creatively improvised” content. The Polyamory Sound Festival is stopping in Vienna from 20 to 22 October in brut.
On each of the evenings two band formations are hitting the stage – one band that already exists and another that is only formed for this evening when members from various bands encounter one another. Ritsche Koch, trumpeter with Miss Platnum (among others), will be exposed to the avant-garde electronic musicians of MA from London, while the Paris punk-hopper Linnake are united with the Austrian sound-conceptualists Vogel/Riegler. The Viennese techno-dance band Elektro Guzzi will be taking up a three-day residency programme, aside from their regular concerts, to really get dance-lovers moving and grooving with their ‘after-hour-workout’. www.polyamorysound.com
