Lisa Kortschak

MESHES TO MESHES 2

brutproduktion

For the second time now, Lisa Kortschak is transforming brut into a cinema with live music. A wide variety of different performers have answered Kortschak’s call to add live sound and music to Meshes of the Afternoon by Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid, a classic of surrealist film, for an evening of MESHES TO MESHES 2. The fifteen-minute silent version, in which the female protagonist and audience cannot escape from a nightmare maelstrom between dream and reality, is being shown four times in a row, and each showing is set to music by two duos, a band, and a four-member choir. Text, electronics, voices, drums, bass, flugelhorn, and clothes pegs aren’t nearly all the instruments the artists will be working with. This time the performative scores originate from Billy Roisz & Anat Stainberg, Chris Janka & Oliver Stotz, Nitro Mahalia, and a choir consisting of Eva Jantschitsch, Bernhard Schnur, Vlada Divljan, and Lisa Kortschak herself.
