Theater im Bahnhof
TIME TO GET READY FOR LOVE
Four men around the age of forty describe record covers they remember. They search for words to describe the songs that shaped their lives, and, subsequently, which songs accompanied their first loves or their first break-ups. Perhaps they stammer, and when they quote titles or lyrics their English carries the lilt of Styria. But the covers mean a lot to them, are a part of them. The four men grew up during a time when carrying around records was important for finding one’s own identity. You either liked Frank Zappa, Talking Heads, or Pink Floyd – once that was straightened out, a series of further questions became superfluous. And so these four men resemble vulnerable dinosaurs, attempting for at least these ninety minutes to hold on to the past with the lyrics and hooks of their songs – forever young – unified in the belief that a song can still say more than anything else. However there is no music during this evening, which brings together Graz’s Theater im Bahnhof with Robin Arthur, member of the legendary British group Forced Entertainment. The melodies only play in one’s own memories. www.theater-im-bahnhof.com
