Andrei Andrianov & Oleg Soulimenko
MADE IN RUSSIA
“The performance’s ingenuity and wit can hardly be surpassed and skilfully plays with clichés and prejudices. A slam-dunk!” Wiener Zeitung
After Soulimenko thoroughly examined the promise of happiness “Austria” has to offer with nine neo-Austrians in the Donauturm Café during the Wiener Festwochen 2012, he will now be returning to the brut stage with his successful production MADE IN RUSSIA. Together with Andrei Andrianov, he still believes that this performance, which is intended to cause a furore on the Western art and performance market, will achieve a major international breakthrough. In their show, they reflect upon their (fictive) biographies and their culture between history, pop songs, dance, and pantomime. In this process they meet famous personalities of the European and Russian art scenes: French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard as intellectual father figure from the West, and exemplary prima ballerina Maya Plisetskaya who was held in high esteem by the Soviet Union, play essential roles. A hot, post-communist wartime battle of Eastern and Western cultural clichés.
Concert on 5 June following the show at Bar brut deluxe: Russia sings the Occident. With Covers of Beatles, Iggy Pop, Eurythmics, Bruce Springsteen und Michael Jackson.
