Florentina Holzinger & Vincent Riebeek
Kein Applaus für Scheiße
“Best up-and-coming artists of the 2011/12 season.” Theater heute critics survey
“Cheeky pop performance.” Tanz
“A cockeyed, cool scenic construction with a mixture of virtuosity and wilful dilettantism during which plenty of fluids from inside the body are allowed out onto the stage.” Der Standard
The sleeper hit of imagetanz 2012 is returning to brut for New Year’s. Florentina Holzinger and Vincent Riebeek embark on breathing new life into the canon of 1970s body and performance art with a large portion of pseudo-dilettantism and a lot of body fluids. Borrowing from the likes of Ivo Dimchev, Jeremy Wade, and Ann Liv Young, blue fountains and golden showers erupt from every bodily orifice. It would be easy for Holzinger – who was awarded the coveted Prix Jardin d’Europe at ImPulsTanz 2012 – and Riebeek to rest on the laurels of the quoting machine. Instead they dig deep into their generation’s pop-cultural props with roller-skating interludes, breakneck manoeuvres from long fabric panels hung from the ceiling, and cover versions sung with exaggerated abandon. They combine old with new in order to escape the devoted obeisance to historic references and update it as completely contemporary art. http://riebeekvincent.wordpress.com, http://floholzinger.wordpress.com
