Oliver Frljić - Mrzim istinu! (Ich hasse die Wahrheit!)

In kroatischer Sprache mit deutschen Übertiteln
Österreichische Erstaufführung

I Hate the Truth! could be the title of every argument with one’s own family. Between 1970 and 1995, all the members of a Serbo-Croatian family have very different perspectives and memory constructs. It means something there when Dragan, who has a Slavic family name, falls in love with Sladana, who has a Latin name. Oliver Frljić,born in Travnik, Bosnia, was sixteen when he was left behind during the post-Yugoslavian war by his parents, who immigrated to America. Now four performers are acting out his family history. The audience sits in the square around a family room in which father, mother and sister performers are complaining to the author and son performer that things were very different, that you cannot say it like that in public. They abandon their dialogs, bring the author to account and experience all the episodes of love, work, the announcements of war as if it was all happening right now. In his explosive performances in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia, Oliver Frljić showed the lines of division and ripped open the wounds in these traumatised countries. Not everything may be recalled and said, not even within the family.
