Dagobert
Dagobert sings about love. And this young Swiss man with a Hollywood-style life story (if it isn’t true it’s certainly well invented!) does it with plenty of emotion. Opinions about his lyrics tend to be divided, but all agree that he’s made Schlager, German-style schmaltzy pop, respectable once again. After two years living on the street he won a highly remunerated music prize and took off for Berlin. Worn down by big-city life, he withdrew to the Swiss mountains, only to return five years later with many, many love songs. Long before one could speak of a recording contract or record release, there were already articles about the beautiful “schmaltzy singer from the mountains”.
In 2012 Dagobert finally recorded his debut album with Markus Ganter (producer of Sizarr, Muso, Casper) and thus gave birth to indie-Schlager. Since that point forward Dagobert has been singing himself into the hearts of fans and music reviewers with a strange melange of folk music and synth-pop. Thanks to him, everyone can finally link arms and sway in time to the music again. Thanks, Dagobert! www.dagobert-musik.de
