Andrea Maurer/studio 5 & Frans Poelstra
Poelstra stolpert, Maurer sägt
In their new piece, Poelstra stolpert, Maurer sägt or Im Fall fliegt es nach unten, Andrea Maurer and Frans Poelstra set themselves to work with very dry realism. In playful situations, they question language conventions and the mechanisms of our perception. They marvel at everyday things and situations, overshoot and leave things to chance. With great conviction they doubt a teleological raison-d-être and get passionately entangled in contradictions and discrepancies. Eventually they carry things so far that the categories of sense and nonsense become superfluous.
studio 5 was founded in 2007 by Andrea Maurer and Thomas Brandstätter. Poelstra stolpert, Maurer sägt continues the work critical of language which they most recently demonstrated on the occasion of their play meaning meaning at the 2012 Freischwimmer Festival. Their new piece was developed in cooperation with the performance artist Frans Poelstra and marks the sixth work studio 5 will be presenting in brut. www.studio-5.at
