Inferno

Opening

Erstaufführungbrutproduktion

“Prepare for a lot of electricity, focus, sound and physical involvement!” Inferno

The collective Inferno invites to the Opening of imagetanz 2012, an evening in three parts. After a warm welcome with slow intro in punctuated rhythm, the evening picks up speed with lively movement in fugato-style, before it devolves into a party with buffet and dancelike conducting moments and an open end. Nobody knows who Inferno are and where they come from. This mysterious collective of musicians and performers is from everywhere and nowhere. Its members live between the centre and the periphery: in Minsk, Wroclaw, Prague, and Vienna.

They come from villages made of stone, from post-industrial areas, or mining regions. Since first meeting at the Russian Academy of the Arts in 2007, the artists have worked together in various formats located somewhere between music and performance. As part of the European underground scene they dream together and individually, while believing in the collective work process. They produce movement, poetry, and mischief. Particularly attracted by dark, even black places, Inferno has been grappling with the idea of theatre for some time now – looking for long-lost magic, chemistry, magnetism, and tension.
